The oil drain plug gasket on the LS650, Suzuki part number 09168-12002, is a crush gasket that probably should be replaced with each oil change. Not having a new one available, I just re-used the old one last oil change. Thankfully, no oil leaks yet! But the gasket looked pretty crushed so I thought I'd better get a new one prior to doing another oil change. I finally stopped by YSA today and picked up two of them for $1.04 each, plus tax. One side of the gasket is rounded and the other side is best described as a truncated cone. The parts microfiche shows it as a flat washer, Clymers doesn't mention it, neither does the LS650 owner's manual. What is the correct way to install this gasket? My guess is the rounded side goes next to the head of the oil drain plug and the tapered (truncated cone) side next to the crankcase. Is this correct? Does anybody know?
Thanks for your help,
KTRSD,
-jb
